It turns out that Carrie Bradshaw very nearly didnt wear the now-famous tulle skirt for the show opening, Racked.com reported. Costume designer Patricia Field and Sarah Jessica Parker both loved the garment immediately, but some on the production team were unconvinced.
How did they resolve tutu-gate? By shooting the bus-splash scene with five different outfits, in fact. The tutu trumped them all, and we have the show as we remember it today. No word on why Carrie couldnt wear a bra with the outfit, but perhaps thats a question best left for another day...More
