Speaking of spangled bras, Bette Midler is preparing to auction off dozens of her costumes and stage ensembles.
The singer and Beaches star will part with vintage Emilio Pucci pieces, stagewear designed by Bob Mackie and a custom Valentino gown at the 12 November event.
Also up for grabs are headdresses, sketches, jewellery and costumes from her recent Las Vegas residency (we love the mermaid dress!).
Midler already has a dream bidder for some of the more dramatic costumes in mind: Lady Gaga. Although Midler and Gaga had a Twitter spat over the summer (Dear @ladygaga Ive been doing singing mermaid in a wheelchair since 1980, Midler tweeted), Midler said she would be thrilled if Gaga decided to bid.
I think she should go for a real wheelchair and a real fishtail because these are really beautiful. They are decorated and hand-beaded, Midler told the Associated Press. If she is interested, she can have whatever she wants because she is a very talented girl and I love her a lot.
Its all in support of the New York Restoration Project, a charity Midler founded in 1995 to protect and improve her home citys green spaces.
The collection will be on display at Juliens Auctions in Beverley Hills from 31 October, in case youd like to bid on a piece of Bette.More
