Bra-da-bling: Miranda Kerr showcases $2.5m bra

A Victoria’s Secret fashion show just wouldn’t be a Victoria’s Secret fashion show without giant glitter wings, mega-models and barely there bustiers.

A diamond-encrusted bra has also become de rigeur at the American lingerie giant’s annual catwalk extravaganza. Yesterday, Miranda Kerr unveiled the design that she’ll wear during the big event next month.

No mere push-up, this is the Treasure Fantasy Bra, a gem-laden publicity machine worth $2.5m. A jeweller spent 500 hours hand-stitching on 3,400 diamonds, pearls, citrines and aquamarines onto the tasselled underpinning.

Kerr follows fellow Angels Tyra Banks, Heidi Klum and Gisele Bundchen into the jewelled “Fantasy Bra”. The Australian model told People magazine that it’s ‘an honour’ to model the design.

‘[I]t’s such a piece of artwork! It's absolutely stunning—it kind of feels a little mermaid-like—but I can't believe I'm wearing $2.5 million on my chest.’

The model, who gave birth to son Flynn in January this year, wore a fuchsia strapless Michael Kors dress to the big bra reveal. She’ll be joined by models including Alessandra Ambrosio, Chanel Iman and Lily Aldridge at the 9 November show. Kanye West and Maroon 5 are also expected to perform.
