A new music video shows that what Beyonce did for the humble leotard, shes about to do for the tuxedo.
The first hint arrived with her VMA performance, when she whipped off a sequinned Dolce & Gabbana tux jacket for her big bump reveal. Now, with the release of her video for Love On Top, the singer completes a tuxedo trifecta.
Beyonce opens the video wearing a cut-out leotard and what appear to be those sold-out Isabel Marant trainers. When the video transitions from day to night, Beyonce quick-changes into a black-and gold tux. She follows that look with a white double-breasted version from Moschino's A/W '11 collection (its a bit Dynasty-meets-Saturday Night Fever, but we like that kind of thing).
All the menswear-inspired looks are a tribute to classic boy bands, Beyonce said in a statement about the video. I had an idea for the video based on some of my favorite male groups. I remember seeing videos from New Edition, The Jackson 5 and the Temptations, bands I love for their beautiful harmonies, and precise choreography and I always wanted to make a video and be part of a boy group myself.
She culminates the tux-ploration in a blinged-out ringmasters ensemble (also Moschino), with tearaway trousers. As you do. Because at the end of the day, you cant separate this gal from her leotards... Take a look at the video, below.
