Tickets for the palaces Summer Opening sold out on many days, with queues forming from 6:00AM during the shows final weekend.
The unprecedented visitor levels (inexact until the completion of a full audit later this year) topple the previous record of 420,000 visitors over 57 days in 1994.
Income from the sale of £17.50 tickets will be directed toward the palace and the care of paintings and artefacts in the Royal Collection. The organisation also plans to make a donation to the royal wedding charitable gift fund in line with Catherines wishes.
