Mad Men set to return in 2012

Beehives at the ready: filming has finally started on the fifth season of Mad Men.

The series has been subject to numerous delays as show creator Matthew Weiner and TV network AMC negotiated contract, budget and casting details. Weiner, a noted perfectionist, threatened to walk out on the show at the lowest point of the disagreements.

All parties seem to have resolved their differences, paving the way for another season of sharp suits and 60s fashion. And the first show of the season is being directed by none other than show star John Hamm.

It wont air until early 2012, but Banana Republic promises to let us in on the Mad Men style act a little sooner. The brand will release a limited edition, Mad Men-inspired collection designed by show costumer Janie Bryant on August 25.

The collection stars pieces suited for all the Joans, Bettys and Peggys out there, with full-skirted dresses, leopard-print cardigans and fitted shifts.

Our collection is about creating vintage, Mad Men inspired pieces in a way that makes them contemporary, versatile, affordable and fashionable, Bryant told Fashionista.
