Sofia Coppola preps for wedding

Informed rumour has it that the Somewhere director will wear a gown designed by Azzedine Alaïa. Choosing Alaia as her gown designer marks a break with some pretty high-profile fashion affiliations. For starters, Coppola is a long-time friend of Marc Jacobs. He chose her as the face of his label’s first fragrance, then brought her into Louis Vuitton for a handbag collection. Coppola recently progressed from that role to collaborating on the Resort 2012 collection with Jacobs’ studio design director.

Besides Vuitton, there’s the matter of Dior. John Galliano designed Coppola’s gown for her first wedding, to filmmaker Spike Jonze, and Coppola’s affinity for the house made her a natural choice to direct Miss Dior Cherie adverts.
