A golden girl in a golden gown, Blake Lively is enough to stop traffic in this Georges Chakra couture gown from the Spring 2011 collection.
Snapped while filming on the set of Gossip Girl in what is destined to be the fictional society wedding of the year, Blake’s character Serena van der Woodsen steps up to the altar in the dramatic strapless tulle gown designed last year by the Lebanese couture designer.
Speaking exclusively to ELLE, Georges said; ''I will never get tired seeing Blake wearing one of my designs and transforming it into a 'Serena' look'.
The designer continued; 'She has gorgeous legs for days and her character has that effortless chic ability to break the rules and ditch your regular white wedding gown and make metallic gold accents acceptable and cool for a bride. Who else can pull off our Couture Swarovski cage dress by layer a blazer and a pair of brogues.'
We’ve yet to see pictures of the actress in the Marchesa gown and Louboutin shoes she wore to wed actor Ryan Reynolds in September, but would Blake be as bold as Serena by going for gold? Styled with a simple updo, emerald drop earrings and a trailing bouquet of lilies, the Gossip Girl certainly cuts a bridal dash.
Such a dash, in fact, that we sense a trend could be afoot. Why marry in white when you could head for the altar in something that even Midas himself would be envious of? Will this result in a wave of brides taking cans of metallic spray paint to their dresses??
If it works for Blake Lively, then the rule of thumb is it probably won’t work for a normal human being. Brides, take note.
