Film fashion news: apparently Woody Allen’s next film stars the impeccable Cate Blanchett in the lead role, and that fashion’s own emperor, Karl Lagerfeld has created a classic Chanel tweed suit and blouse for her character to wear. We’ve heard good things about the current Allen flick in circulation, To Rome With Love and before that, Midnight in Paris was his most successful - critically and commercially in years.

Most recently we’ve seen Chanel create beautiful baubles for Keira Knightley to wear as Anna Karenina, which we are making an appointment to view, more urgently than ever in light of the fact that the much-anticipated Great Gatsby interpretation by Baz Luhrmann starring Carey Mulligan, won’t be released until mid 2013 which does seem an awfully long time to wait.

Obviously – a film or TV series doesn’t have to be lavishly swathed in vintage finery for us to want to watch it. However, just look at the way Downton Abbey has colonised the world of fashion as evidence that it does certainly help.
