The Queen hosted a pre-Olympics Opening Ceremony drinks reception this evening before festivities kicked off at the Olympic ground in Stratford, East London.

All eyes – as always - were on the Duchess of Cambridge wearing an eau de nil satin fitted coat dress by none other than Brit designer and British Fashion Awards designer of the year .

Nodding to the style of his resort 2013 collection, his agent exclusively confirmed to ELLE that it was custom made for the Duchess for the event. This is the first time that the Duchess has worn the label.

Michelle Obama championed US designer for the occasion, wearing a resort 2013 basque and white pleated skirt to the event.

Other British royals at the reception included the Duke of York and his daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, the Earl and Countess of Wessex and the Princess Royal.
