Complicated characters are on a quest for comfort in Silver Linings Playbook, an edgy comedy drama about unlikely love starring The Hunger Games' Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper.
Pat (Cooper) is fresh from a breakdown after his wifes infidelity. Hes determined to see the silver lining in everything but hes still in denial, convinced hes happily married.
Enter newly-widowed sex bomb Tiffany (Lawrence), whos on almost as many meds as Pat.
She needs a dance partner for a contest; he needs a project. You can kind of guess the rest. Needless to say, training is complicated by their chaotic emotions.
Its a contrived but enjoyable set-up with both Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence on top form you wont have seen either of them like this before.
Lawrence really proves her versatility, showing she can play a sulky teen one minute and a world-weary young woman the next.
Yes, its a romantic comedy, but not like weve seen before.
