Producers of have released the first publicity shot of AnnaSophia Robb as the young Bradshaw in the new Sex and the City prequel series.
Note the crimped and tousled ‘do, the glitter, the puffball skirt, the green leopard-print cardigan, the rainbow belt and particularly the lipstick-red high heels. The improbable harmony of elements that might leave a less intrepid dresser thinking ‘clash! clash!’ is all Bradshaw, whatever the decade.
‘It's a rare invitation to dress a character whose reputation truly precedes her,’ Eric Daman, the Carrie Diaries and Gossip Girl costume designer who also worked on SATC, said in a statement. ‘Having played a hand in designing for the Carrie we know and love, I am honored to be chosen to carry the torch — to illuminate the woman we know by discovering the young lady she was.’
Writer and executive producer Amy B. Harris said producers ‘knew we had found her’ the moment Robb walked into her audition. The young actress has won Parker’s support as well.
‘She sent me a letter! I wrote her one back, too,’ the Soul Surfer actress told US Weekly. ‘She was just very encouraging about it all.’
‘I know everyone’s going to compare it to Sex and the City, but we’re never going to be that. The show is more for my generation, but it’s set in the ‘80s, so it’s fun.’
