Emma to meet her beast in 'Beauty' remake

Emma Watson has signed on to star in a new version of Beauty and the Beast.

The actress will play the beauty to an undisclosed beast in Guillermo del Toros new production. Considering del Toros past directorial credits, including Pans Labyrinth and Hellboy, its likely that his film will propose a darker vision of the story than the animated Disney telling from 1991.

Watson has smaller roles in two upcoming films, The Perks of Being a Wallflower and My Week with Marilyn, in which she plays Marilyn Monroes dresser. But Beauty and the Beast will probably be the actresss first lead role since the conclusion of the Harry Potter series.

ELLE girl Watson has said shes eager to portray strong women in film.

I feel like young girls are told they have to be this kind of princess and be all this sweet stuff, she told The Sun.

"It's all bull****. I identify with more of being a warrior princess, so if I had to be a princess, I'd have to kick some ass first.
