Calling all fans of Harry Potter/wizards/magic/mythical creatures. Three new films written by JK Rowling are currently in the works.
Remember Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them? It is, for the benefit of the uninitiated, the textbook consulted by Harry, Hermione, Ron and gang at Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft and Wizardry penned by ‘magizoologist’ Newt Scamander.
In 2001 Rowling published the fantastical manual to raise money for Comic Relief and its fictitious author, Newt, will be the subject of a new trilogy of films written by Rowling and set in New York City about 70 years before the Harry Potter crew join Hogwarts.
Rowling, who reportedly wrote the script's rough draft in just 12 days, said in a statement: ‘It is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world.’
With the backing of Warner Bros the new trilogy is sure to have a massive budget and an eye-wateringly good cast. The Harry Potter film series made megastars of Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson who is currently starring in Darren Aronofsky’s new epic alongside Russell Crowe and fellow Brit and former Burberry model Douglas Booth.
Emma Watson revealed to MTV News last week that she ‘would definitely be up for a cameo' in Fantastic Beasts.
