Kate Moss for Playboy has been billed from the get-go as a collaboration of titans. The magazine’s editorial director raved about it with the line: ‘It started with Marilyn Monroe on the cover of Playboy 60 years ago, an icon for her time. Now we've got Kate Moss!’ Indeed they do – and, after all the months of whispers and anticipation, the mag has released the first image of Kate in full-on bunny mode ahead of the issue’s on-sale date of Friday.

But is it just us, or is this first look (whisper it) a smidge underwhelming? It's today's talking point at ELLE HQ, so we're keen to know your view.

Posing on all fours in an original Playboy Bunny outfit, Moss thrusts her tail in the air as she stares provocatively into the camera (wielded by Mert and Marcus).

Kate looks great, as always, but what do you think? We fear it's more Bridget Jones than Monroe.

Here’s hoping the rest of the shoot is as modern, as cool and as exciting as billed – the mainstream press aren’t known for their enthusiasm in promoting top shelf titles, so we understand that Playboy needed something ‘safe’ to release. We get it. But we’ve tempered our excitement somewhat, and are less sure than before that this is the Kate-at-her-sexiest moment: surely currently her video for the White Stripes' I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself, now playing at ELLE HQ.
