What with her put-it-all-out-there antics and intrepid personal style, you might expect Lady Gaga to be impervious to criticism.
Not so, the singer said in an interview. When addressing her recent weight gain and the formation of her Body Revolution platform to promote positive body image, Lady Gaga said she wishes she could be more like Adele in at least one respect: her confidence.
I thought, well I dont really care if they think Im fat, because, quite honestly, I did gain about 30 pounds, Gaga told Stylist. Adele is bigger than me, how come nobody says anything about it? Shes so wonderful and I think her confidence is something I have to match. She has set the bar very high for a lot of woman. I need to be a confident woman and just say politically active things when I can that are helpful to young people.
As for her reaction to the tabloid criticism of photos depicting a slightly heavier Gaga onstage, the singer said she found the whole affair ridiculous.
I was acutely aware of some photos on the internetmy mum called me and was like, Did you gain weight?everybody was telling me about it, and I didn't really care. But when I heard it was on the news, where they talk about wars, the economy crashing and the electionI just thought, This is f*cking ridiculous. I mean, what kind of example is that to a young girl sitting at home?
Not that shes entirely free of wondering how people react to what she wears: Sometimes I think, Well, no-ones going to want to f*ck me in that!
