You’d be forgiven for missing the fact that Lena Dunham was nominated for an Emmy last night (Best Actress in a comedy, for her role in self-penned series, Girls, since you ask). Because nobody seemed to be able to see past what she was wearing.

Here’s the thing: it’s . If someone said to you tomorrow, when you had the Emmys (AT WHICH YOU WERE NOMINATED) on your calendar, ‘Want to go in Couture?’, what would your response be? ‘I’d better not – the Internet might not like it’?

Thought not.

Lena always wears what she wants, and she has no shortage of designer labels only too happy to dress her – Prada, Saint Laurent, Valentino, Erdem, Zac Posen among them. FWIW we’re happy to see she’s added Valli to her repertoire, and that she didn’t play it safe, and that she had an awesome night. It’s the stuff of fantasy – fashion or otherwise.

Or, as Lena herself put it (via Twitter) –

‘This massive skirt has created boundaries for me that I'm incapable of creating for myself.

‘Thank you, skirt!’
