She's a busy girl, Miley Cyrus. For her latest turn, she's recorded a session on MTV Unplugged. It may have been her duet with Madonna on a mash-up of Cyrus' We Can't Stop and Madge's Don't Tell Me that grabbed the headlines, but it was one of her other song choices that stood out to us – partly because it was brilliant, and partly because it seems so unlikely.

During the eight-song set, Miley covered Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High by Sheffield-bred band Arctic Monkeys – and, amazingly, it worked.

Miley's not the only star at it. The cover is the latest in a series of unexpected choices from music's biggest stars. We've rounded up the best (and most surprising) below…

Justin Timberlake covers Poison by Bell Biv DeVoe (with the help of two brilliant backing singers) - and reminds us that he has moves.

Patti Smith takes on Rihanna's Stay and it's glorious. We love you Patti.

Jay Z might have seemed like an odd choice as Glastonbury headliner. But I was there, and his cover of Oasis' Wonderwall was epic.

Taylor Swift covering Train's Drops of Jupiter.

And, bizarrely, Taylor doing Lose Yourself by Eminem. Yo.

And finally... Arctic Monkeys strike back with this cover of Love Machine - yep, the Girls Aloud one.

Rihanna + Shakira = magic...
