Can you believe it's 17 years since David and Victoria tied the knot?

17 years since they sat on golden thrones, beaming like the cats that got the cream?

17 YEARS.

Before we start to wonder what we've achieved in 17 years , let's relive the day that practically started the trend for ridiculously extravagant celebrity weddings.

The pair married on July 4th, 1999 at Luttrellstown Castle, just outside Dublin.

VB, then at the height of her Spice Girls fame, wore a Champagne-coloured Vera Wang gown with a 20-foot train. It featured an inner corset that would make her waist look like Scarlet O'Hara's in Gone With the Wind, but she was also after a 'rock-queen' vibe, according to Wang. Oh, how things have changed.

She also wore an 18-carat gold crown (of course), designed by jeweller Slim Barrett.

A single white dove was released as they said their vows and a purple flag raised above the castle with the letters V.B.D. We're not making this up.

Later, 230 guests were welcomed to the reception, all asked to wear black and white.

David and Victoria, and baby Brooklyn, changed into matching purple outfits designed by Antonio Berardi, and cut a towering cake complete with nude sculpture of the duo on top. Seriously.

Oh, and then they sat in some custom-made thrones. Because they could.
