Golden Globes Best Actress nominee Evan Rachel Wood decided to skip the typical awards show gown on the red carpet tonight. Her suit, a custom design from Joseph Altuzarra, is gorgeous–and was chosen for a good reason.
"This is my third nomination. I've been to the Globes six times and I've worn a dress every time. I love dresses–I'm not trying to protest dresses, but I wanted to make sure young girls and women know they aren't a requirement," the Westworld star told Ryan Seacrest on E!. "You don't have to wear one if you don't want to, and to just be yourself because your worth is more than that."
She went on to explain some additional inspiration from the past, "I said this year I'm going to [pay] homage to Marlene Dietrich and Victor Victoria and David Bowie, because it's his birthday."
Brilliant.
