Months before Prince Harry popped the question to his bride-to-be, Meghan Markle was already wearing a ring with Prince Harry's first initial on it.

Following her dinner date with the prince at Soho House in London last February, the Suits actress was photographed near Harry's cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace.

As she shopped for flowers in jeans, Hunter boots and a Barbour, the 'H' ring was seen amongst a stack of similar gold rings worn on Meghan's right hand.

It was a subtle statement about her relationship with Prince Harry, but it wasn't the first time the star acknowledged her beau through her jewellery.

While Harry was away on a 15-day tour of the Caribbean in December 2016, the former actress stepped out in a Maya Brenner necklace strung with an 'M' and an 'H'.

The couple were also spotted wearing matching beaded bracelets when reports of the relationship first emerged in 2016.

Of course, nothing can beat Markle's current sparkler sitting on her ring finger - a gold band and three diamonds: one from Botswana (where the couple are said to have holidayed together last year) and two diamonds from his mother Princess Diana's personal collection.

During their joint interview with the BBC, Meghan also confirmed that Prince Harry designed the ring, which was made by court jewellers Cleave and Company.

'The ring is yellow gold because that's her favourite, and the main stone itself I sourced from Botswana and the little diamonds either side are from my mother's jewellery collection to make sure that she's with us on this crazy journey together,' Harry explained to journalist Mishal Husain.

Meanwhile, Meghan described her new ring as 'incredibly special'.

However, for anyone hoping to nab a replica of Markle's stunning engagement ring, they can think again.

Cleave and Company Court Jewellers and Medallists' director, Stephen Connelly, has confirmed that they will not be designing any copies.

'We're not going to be making replicas of it. If you want a ring, then we'll design you a different one,' he told HELLO! magazine.

There goes that dream.
