Choosing a set of bridesmaids dresses to suit your entire #squad of BFFs on your wedding day has got to be the ultimate Goldilocks dilemma of fashion.

Too pastel and the dress will make your fair-skinned friend look like Casper the Friendly Ghost, too long and your 5ft 1inch mate will complain she looks like a Borrower, too glitzy and your Céline-loving, Scandi wardrobe-inspired fashion pal will curse you forever for making her look like a Kardashian circa 2007.

That's why you need people like Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen at a wedding, because whatever you dress your bridesmaids in, at least they'll be sure to wear some of the most brilliantly bonkers and unique outfits on your big day.

And that's exactly what they did over the weekend as their friend, and Gomelsky creative director, Cassie Coane married businessman Jim Koenig in a private ceremony in New York City.

The bridal party (which included the likes of fellow fashion names Sarah Staudinger of brand Staud and Harley Viera-Newton of HVN) wore an array of mismatched dresses in bright floral patterns, ruffles, prints and billowing silhouettes.

However, you could trust the Olsen twins to go one step further in the fashion stakes for the wedding – quite literally in Mary-Kate's case, who was photographed standing so far away from one of the group's snaps that she looks like she's either been photoshopped in afterwards, or stumbled on a wedding and thought it would be fun to photo-bomb the adorable group shot.

Dressed in a kimono-style mini dress, the former actress – who married businessman Olivier Sarkozy in 2015 – wore a bejweled headpiece with what appear to be small flowers detailing the crown, and emerald green bow-embellished Balenciaga satin mules.

Meanwhile, we just had to play a 'Where's Wally?'-like game to spot Ashley among the crowd of, what probably are to her, giants (after all, she's only 5ft 1inches), wearing a black dress with white detailing on the oversized sleeves.

The Olsen twins surely never disappoint.
