After taking the crown from longstanding title holder Gisele Bündchen last year, Kendall Jenner has been named the world's highest-paid model for a second year running.

The 23-year-old tops the annual Forbes list having earned an estimated $22.5 million (£18m) from June 1, 2017 to June 1 of this year.

According to the magazine, a large part of the model's earnings have come from contracts with the likes of Estee Lauder, Adidas and Calvin Klein which have allowed her to lead the list by quite a stretch.

In second place is coder advocate Karlie Kloss, after she earned $13 million (£10.3m) over the timeframe thanks to deals with Swarovski and Estee Lauder and more.

Next up, in joint third ranking is Chrissy Teigen and Rosie Huntington-Whitely - who therefore is the highest-paid British model on the list.

According to Forbes, social media has benefitted all the highest earning models and for Teigen and Huntington-Whitely has paved the way for further business opportunities like Teigen's cookbooks and presenting jobs and Huntington-Whiteley's collection with Marks and Spencer and her own line, Rose Inc.

The list slightly differs from last year with some models dropping off and others returning. Bündchen - who topped the list for 15 years before being out-earned by Jenner - has all but retired from the runway (yet still managed to bank $10 million this year).

Adriana Lima, Ashley Graham and Liu Wen did not feature on this year's list whereas Cara Delevingne, Joan Smalls and Doutzen Kroes all made comebacks.

Here's the list in full:

1. Kendall Jenner - $22.5 million (£18m)

    2. Karlie Kloss - $13 million (£10.3m)

    3. Chrissy Teigen - $11.5 million (£9m)

    3. Rosie Huntington-Whitely - $11.5 million (£9m)

    5. Gisele Bündchen - $10 million (£8m)

    5. Cara Delevingne - $10 million (£8m)

    7. Gigi Hadid - $9.5 million (£7.5m)

    8. Bella Hadid - $8.5 million (£6.8m)

    8. Joan Smalls -$8.5 million (£6.8m)

    10. Doutzen Kroes - $8 million (£6.4m)

Forbes bases its pre-tax earning estimates on the estimated incomes from cosmetic, fragrance and clothing contracts as well as interviews with agents, manages and brand executives.
