Months after making her catwalk debut at the likes of Saint Laurent, Fendi, Miu Miu, Prada, Moschino and Alexander Wang, Kaia Gerber has taken to the runway to model the latest Chanel Haute Couture collection at the Grand Palais in Paris.

This morning, the 16-year-old model opened the SS19 Paris Fashion Week Show, weeks after announcing she was to create a capsule collection with Chanel's creative designer, Karl Lagerfeld.

For the show, Cindy Crawford's daughter donned a structured powder pink dress with feathered sleeves and a wide, bell-shaped skirt which Karl described as at the new 'Chanel Haute Couture silhouette'.

Kaia's debut couture show comes a week after WWD reported the star had joined forces with Lagerfeld on her first design collaboration, scheduled to launch in autumn.

Named Karl Lagerfeld X Kaia, the capsule collection will reportedly be available in Lagerfeld stores and online globally from September. The collaboration will reportedly comprise of sunglasses, jewellery and shoes.

'When Karl first told us his idea to collaborate with Kaia, we were all excited by the incredible potential and power of bringing their two worlds together,' Pier Paolo Righi, chief executive officer of Karl Lagerfeld, said in a statement last Tuesday.

'We have been working intensely over the last months with Kaia in L.A. and at our studio in Paris. It was exciting to see her clear vision, passion and engagement, and the collection will definitely inspire many young women,' he added.

It is widely believed the collection will mirror a mix of Gerber's West Coast style and French sophistication.

The collaboration comes two years after Tommy Hilfiger teamed up with Gigi Hadid for the designer's first see-now-buy-now show, generating a 900 per cent increase in traffic to the brand's website in the 48 hours following the show, reports WWD.

Hadid and Hilfiger are collaborating on their fourth collection together, showcased in February in Milan.

Speaking of Gerber's rise to fame in the fashion industry, Kendall Jenner recently told Love magazine: 'Listen, we're all trying to get all our work in now before she hits the scene. When that happens, we'll all go broke!'
