You probably already know who the most followed fashion models are on Instagram - Kendall Jenner (with 87.7m followers), Bella (with 16.9m) and Gigi Hadid (38.5m) and, British babe Cara Delevigne (41.1m) dominate the socail media app.

All part of famous dynasties, these lithe beauties top the charts when it comes to straight-up recognisability.

However, whilst your numbers of followers is important, there are other metrics for social media popularity, one of the most important being 'engagement'.

If you don't know, engagement is kind of what is says on the tin, i.e. how engaged are your followers in your content. When a photo comes up on a follower's timeline, how likely are they to double-tap, to go onto your profile, to watch the video you posted till the end, to comment, or even reply to another's comment in the comment section?

Engagement therefore details how invested followers are in an account and a person, opposed to simply curious as to what they're up to.

Kaia Gerber similarly comes from celebrity royalty - being the daughter of supermodel Cindy Crawford - however, she has drastically less followers than the current supers. With 2.9m followers to her name (not a number to be scoffed at) Gerber is a relative newby, being only 16-years-old and having walked for only two seasons.

However, the model has a higher engagement than all of the big names.

According to W, Instagram has released the name of the top 10 most engaged fashion model accounts out there and none of those supers are on it. Instead, Kaia sits sixth on the list.

She also, perhaps surprisingly, is beneath her brother on the run-down, who, as the only male, is number five.

The most engaged model on Instagram is Julia Ratner, who has walked for the likes of Prabal Gurung and Valentino and has 39.2k followers.

Others on the list include Nigerian model Mayowa Nicholas and Calvin Klein walker Selena Forrest.
