Welcome to the David Beckham show. You’ve already seen two of our July 2012 covers—now catch our first cover man in action in an exclusive video.
In it, Beckham shares his ELLE love (‘I’ve been a big fan for many years,’ he says), describes how he feels about fashion and strikes some of his best poses yet. And just wait until you hear what he says about football fans versus fashion fans. Hint: ‘It definitely attracts a different crowd.’
Inside the issue, on newsstands this Wednesday—you’ll find the finished product: 12 pages of Beckham on location in California.
Although the shoot may have caught your attention largely thanks to our skill in convincing Beckham to remove his shirt, the fashion remains an important element. Our stylist capitalised on Beckham’s classic looks by choosing dozens of pieces of denim and plenty of bicep-flaunting t-shirts.
Speaking of, want to know what Beckham calls the craziest thing he has ever done for the love of fashion? No, it’s not swimming with his jeans on for our cover. It’s one from the archive.
‘Probably the sarong,’ he says. ‘That was a little bit brave, wearing that. I got a little bit of stick for it over the years, but I still look back at it and think it was a great idea and it looked good.’
The July issue of ELLE is on sale on Wednesday 30 May. Don’t miss a thing—subscribe here.
