It’s the breaking movie news that rocked all of our weekends: Charlie Hunnam has quit his role as Christian Grey in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey.

Brit Hunnam’s appointment to one of the most coveted film roles in recent memory caused something of a stir online – but, apparently, it’s a conflict in his filming schedule for US series Sons Of Anarchy that’s to blame, rather than the mixed response to his unveiling.

Said Universal Pictures in a statement: ‘The filmmakers of Fifty Shades of Grey and Charlie Hunnam have agreed to find another male lead given Hunnam's immersive TV schedule which is not allowing him time to adequately prepare for the role of Christian Grey.’

Whatever: the news puts ELLE firmly back on the casting couch, which is exactly where we like to be.

Below are our Top 5 picks as to who should take the lead role. Tweet us yours now @ELLEUK… Let’s see what we can make happen!
