The list of New York-based labels that we’re lusting after is ever-growing but come spring we’re all set to add another to the line-up – Cushnie et Ochs.
The label may be US based but it has a transatlantic feel thanks to the design duo that mastermind it. Carly Cushnie hails from London and she studied in Paris before heading for the Big Apple. Michelle Ochs, on the other hand, is all-American. With stints interning for Proenza Schouler, Oscar de la Renta and Marc Jacobs under their collective belts, the duo boldy decided to team up straight out of college and launched their debut Cushnie et Ochs offering in Spring 2009.
Since then they’ve bagged awards – they won the Ecco Domani Fashion Fund in 2009, were finalists in the 2010 Fashion Group International Rising Star Award and this year were finalists for the CFDA Fashion Fund. And they’ve earned themselves and impressive A-list following, with Reese Witherspoon, Karlie Kloss, Olivia Wilde, Rihanna, Eva Longoria, Jessica Alba and Leighton Meester all donning their dresses to hit the red carpet.
So what’s been winning the discerning style setters over?
