It's not every day you get to meet one of fashion's biggest icons. But today, in the #ELLEFashionCupboard, we did exactly that.

To mark the launch of her new V&A book, which celebrates the 50th anniversary of Biba, we caught up with Barbara Hulanicki and got up close and personal with some of the pieces from the curated collection of vintage Biba going on sale at Farfetch.com. Here's what she told us.

ELLE: What item would be in your fantasy fashion cupboard?

Barbara: Everything from Rick Owens. It would look like his showroom, filled with all his past season's collections.

ELLE: If you weren't a fashion designer what would you be?

Barbara: A film director making dark films.

ELLE: What is your number one source of creative inspiration?

Barbara: At the moment watching television in America, it's so amazing. I love Homeland and Silicone Valley.

ELLE: The fashion item you most want to buy at the moment is...?

Barbara: It's always shoes. Right now a pair of Dior lace up mules.

ELLE: What is your motto?

Barbara: Slowly slowly catchy monkey.
