First down the red carpet was the ever-dapper David Gandy, followed swiftly by Henry Holland and Pixie Geldof.

The designer eschewed his trademark brights for a black double-breasted suit from Mr Start and Bottega Veneta shoes. Pixie wore a Dolce and Gabbana dress printed with chilli peppers. How would she describe her sense of style? ‘HOT!’ she laughed.

Up next was Jessica Chastain, just nominated for a number of awards for her performance in The Help. Impeccable in a ladylike black lace Alexander McQueen dress, she told us that one of the most outlandish things she has ever done for the love of fashion was to use her student loan money to purchase a Burberry jacket.

These days, she says she looks for ‘feminine clothes with a modern edge.’ Sounds like an award-winning formula to us...
