Fashion Inspiration
So how does the bold style ID translate to AW17 fashion? It's all about taking the show-stopping runway trends and making them work for you. "The bold woman is a true individual," says ELLE Fashion Editor Michelle Duguid. For the photoshoot with our partner Hyundai, Michelle looked for bright colours and strong silhouettes, with red playing a key role.
For the upcoming season, the bold ID can look toward a few key trends from the ELLE trend report - including Red Alert and United Nations.
Red is the stand-out colour of the season, but think refined rather than overtly sexualised. That's not just because of the refreshing wave of models age 30 and over who were cast in shows, from Max Mara to Simone Rocha. We also saw the colour pop up at Prada, Roksanda, Preen and Fendi too, where the pieces were less Lolita, more grown-up.
The AW17 season has also become the the place for a mash-up of cultural references, celebrating the beauty of inclusivity and encouraging bold social and political statements. Take John Galliano's patchwork of references for Margiela, which was used to illustrate the 'memories that unite us and give us hope', or Raf Simons celebration of 'the coming together of different individuals'. This is the time for us all to became revolutionaries.
