Halston
Halston, the iconic American fashion house - synonymous with glitz and high glamour in the 70s - is back. The label was bought this year by movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, who swiftly hired Jimmy Choo's Tamara Mellon and Hollywood super-stylist Rachel Zoe (pictured left ) to consult on the most eagerly anticipated resurrection in fashion history. In the 70s the label, created by Roy Halston Frowick, was renowned for its signature long, slinky, gowns, worn at the coolest hotspots by stars like Bianca Jagger, Elizabeth Taylor and Angelica Huston. Back then Halston's designs ruled the dance floor and Frowick also made fashion industry history becoming the first designer to license his brand (a very controversial move in the 70s). He also produced one of the greatest selling perfumes of all time, Halston. Sadly a spiralling drug habit led Halston to be fired from his own company in 1984 and the brand slowly dissappeared. Since his death in 1990 there have been a number of attempts to resurrect the brand, all so far unsuccessful. However, fashion's recent vintage obsession has led to a new generation of fashionistas discovering his designs. Under Zoe's direction, Lindsay Lohan and Nicole Richie have already worn vintage Halston on the red carpet. With Versace's Marco Zanini just appointed as head designer, we're sure they will be loving the new collection too. Just watch this space .
