Poltock and Walsh
It’s a hard and fast rule of fashion that where Kate Moss goes others are sure to follow, so when we spotted her stepping out in a LBD dress from Poltock and Walsh we raced to bring you the low down on this up and coming brand.
The brains behind the operation are Fiamma Poltock and Kate Walsh who met while studying fashion design at Kingston University. They formed a firm friendship and, once they had cut their teeth at Alexander McQueen and John Richmond respectively, decided to pool their talents and establish their own label in 2006.
Since its debut collection back in s/s 2007 their fledgling label has become firmly established on the fashion scene. They showed with rip-roaring success in New York last season before making their debut on the London Fashion Week schedule for a/w 2008, assisted by stylist to the stars and Editor-in-Chief of Lula magazine, Leith Clarke. The labels aesthetic? Feminine, cool and quirky with attention to detail. This season’s collection is an array of chiffon and silk, with floaty dresses and colourful panelled T-shirts, while autumn is set to offer lust-have 1920’s inspired silk shifts and architectural ruffles – we’ve compiled our shopping list already.
The label has already garnered a whole host of celebrity followers – Anouck Lepere, Alison Mosshart and Roisin Murphy all count themselves as fans. And, of course, the ultimate accolade, our favourite super Kate Moss has recently been spotted out and about sporting the Poltock and Walsh ‘Nightshade’ little black dress – cue a flurry of very interested style mavens and Chinese whispers about a rumoured line for Topshop. A sure sign of future big things if ever we heard one.
Poltock and Walsh is available from Sefton in Islington.
