Rogan Gregory

Rogan Gregory

If the name Rogan Gregory doesn’t ring any bells then listen up, especially if you are something of an ethically minded shopper. Rogan is the super-cool, rock-star lookalike who has spawned a clutch of much-sought after brands, charmed the movers and shakers of the fashion world and proved that ethical fashion doesn’t only have to look like it’s good for the environment. You really should know who he is.

With a background in product design, Denver-born Gregory’s first foray into fashion was with his eponymous denim range in 2001, and he used it's profits to start Loomstate, a T-shirt and denim brand that had both cutting-edge cool and the ethical credentials of Linda McCartney. Alongside co-founder Scott Hahn, Gregory propelled the label to instant success, garnering celebrity fans and causing something of a stir in the fashion world along the way. So much so that when Ali Hewson and husband Bono (yes, from U2) decided to start a clothing brand (sales of which they wanted to go towards combating poverty in Africa) Gregory’s door was the first they knocked on – and so Edun was born. The label naturally grabbed headlines with its celebrity associations and worthy ambition of creating a high-end designer range made from organic and sustainable resources in factories that would also benefit from the label's success.

Not content with two successful clothing lines under his belt, Gregory has also since launched Rogan Objects, a collection of lust-have, all-natural furniture, and at last year's CFDA awards fought off competition from Philip Lim and Three As Four to win the coveted Fashion Fund Award, earning himself £100,000 and a year of mentoring by a top fashion industry insider.

He is currently grabbing column inches with his much anticipated capsule collection for American retail giant Target, the first of their collaborations to be a) truly green and b) picked up by Barneys New York - the Harvey Nichols of America.
