The Plastiscines

Ever since we saw Vanessa Paradis don a beret and sing Joe le Taxi on Top of the Pops, we have dreamed of being gamine, chic and, above all, French. Brigitte Bardot, Jane Birkin and Charlotte Gainsbourg have all been added to the list of Gallic songstresses we’d love to emulate, and now there’s not one but three young Parisians who might just make the cut. Currently taking the indie world by storm are the Plastiscines, a trio of beautiful and achingly cool youngsters (Katty, Louise and Marine) who's songs combine our favourite elements of French pop (cute and upbeat) with a driving punk sound. Formed in 2004, their popularity has already spread from the underground scene in Paris to the States and a cult following in the UK is sure to follow, not least thanks to their ever-growing celebrity fan base - Pete Doherty put in an appearance at the launch of their debut album, LP1. The Plastiscines sound great and look hot, so it’s only a matter of time before they start popping up at the coolest parties and gracing glossy fashion spreads across the globe, so start name dropping them now, or visit their My Space page (www.myspace.com/plastiscine) to listen and learn more.
