Erin Fetherston

Erin Fetherstin and Zooey Deschanel

If your style tends to fall on the decidedly girly side then Erin Fetherston should most definitely be on your radar. The American-born designer has been making waves across the pond since she showed her debut collection in Paris in 2005 and it's only a matter of time before those in the know catch on over here.

For a fledgling designer, she has already found friends in high places; the showing of her second collection was accompanied by a film made by Ellen von Unwerth that starred Kirsten Dunst, and her latest campaign features Karen Elson and Zooey Deschanel (who also sang at her A/W07 catwalk show).

So why is it that all the lovely ladies are lining up to work with her? One look at Erin's creations is enough to tell you. These are clothes that make you feel like a princess, with an emphasis on magical dresses that look just as fabulous slung over a well-worn T-shirt and a pair of Converse as they do glammed up for the red carpet.

This autumn Erin will follow in the footsteps of Proenza Schouler and Luella Bartley by creating a capsule collection for American brand Target, a sure sign that she has gained some serious mainstream credibility. We're keeping our fingers crossed that a collaboration with Topshop or H&M won't be far behind.
