Kristian Aadnevik

In the world of fashion where Donatella Versace goes others are sure to follow, so it’s no surprise that the latest designer to be taken under her wing, Kristian Aadnevik, is setting the most stylish tongues wagging.

The Norwegian born designer graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2002 and started his career with turns at Harrods International and Charles Jourdan in Japan. He launched his first solo collection at London Fashion Week in 2004 and met with a rapturous response from the world’s fashion press. So how did he end up working with Donatella Versace? The story starts with Franca Sozzani, Editor of Vogue Italia, who set up the International Protégé showcase with Australian Merino wool. He wanted to give the most talented up-and-coming designers the chance to be mentored by an experienced designer throughout their collection and Kristian was chosen by Ms Versace herself as her protégé. And it’s not hard to see why. His A/W 2008 collection, entitled ‘Ophelia’ is a heady mix of glitz and glamour, featuring super-sexy body hugging minis, ultra-feminine feather coats and show-stopping gowns - all tailored to within an inch of couture - that wouldn’t look out of place on Versace catwalk – or the red carpet for that matter.

Come September Kristian will be heading for the bright lights of Milan to show his next collection, the perfect place to showcase his brand of rock and roll glamour. We predict that celebrity heavy front rows and long waiting lists will not be far behind.
