Olivier Theyskens
Head designer for legendary French label, Nina Ricci, Olivier Theyskens is a talent to watch. He took the helm of the fashion house in 2006 having first run his own, eponymous label and designed for Rochas where he won critical acclaim and a CFDA award for design. With a whole heap of great design and just a little celebrity endorsement - snagging Oscar-winner Reese Witherspoon as the unofficial face of the brand - in just a few seasons, he has revived Nina Ricci from its rather bland status, into the red carpet label of choice for young Hollywood. It was Theyskens who was responsible for that ‘who needs a husband anyway' showstopper Reese wore to the 2007 Golden Globes.
Madonna once said of him, 'Olivier is one of the few designers I consider to be a true artist. His clothes are unique inventions.' His signature look - delicate, wispy layers - inhabits everything he creates, from sweaters to floor-length evening gowns, all with a gentle nod to nature. For Autumn/Winter 07 he transformed his catwalk into a winter wonderland, complete with barren trees, snowflakes and feathers. (Click here to view the catwalk video)
