Turning up to the MTV VMAs half-naked is nothing new, yet nobody has ever come close to rivaling the infamous 'naked' dress that Rose McGowan's wore to the awards in 1998. Until now that is.
So here they are: this year's varying degrees of nakedness, from nearly naked to very naked.

In at number one is Kim Kardashian with a straightforward, and arguably most modest, approach to nudity - the classic cleavage.

Probably the classiest form of semi-nudity, a backless dress can be sexy but still demure. Beware of wardrobe malfunctions: don’t forget the tit-tape.

After last year's effort (who could forget that nude PVC ensemble, not to mention twerk-gate), this is a much more family-friendly ensemble for the headline-snatcher.

Up next is Taylor Swift, with a not-so-subtle approach to bare legs. Although, if we had legs like that, we so would too.

And the prize for most inappropriate display of nudity goes to Amber Rose, who decided to leave everything but her thong and a few chains in the dressing room this year. Do not try this at home.
