The book that lifted the lid on the inner workings of New York’s glossy magazine publishing industry and inspired the 2006 film, which starred Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep, is enticingly called Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns, and is set to be released in April 2013 – ten years after the original was published.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the story picks up with Andrea ‘Andy’ Sachs, who is now editing The Plunge, ‘the hottest bridal magazine around’ – with the help of Emily who, as we all remember, didn’t make Andy’s life particularly easy in the Runway days.

Now, they’re BFFs and Andy is planning her own wedding to a handsome heir to a media fortune but remains haunted by the memories of her scathingly evil ex-boss, Miranda Priestly, with whom she parted company on less-than-pleasant terms. And, with publishing being the close-knit world that it is, you just know that it’s only a matter of time before the (evil) Ghost of Jobs past gets in the way of Andy’s happy nuptials.

Weisberger has written three other novels since The Devil Wears Prada, which was said to be based on her experience as second assistant to Anna Wintour at American Vogue. We’re sure that this next instalment will be every bit as absorbing, and no doubt have a silver screen adaptation in the works shortly, too.

While it remains to be seen whether Hathaway and Streep will reprise their roles for a film version of the sequel, we have our fingers crossed that if/when it happens, the cast also features Emily Blunt as Emily and Stanley Tucci as Nigel. And no doubt the costumes will be as knock-out – remember that montage set to KT Tunstall’s Suddenly I See? And our money’s on Vera Wang to design Andy’s wedding dress.
