As a Brit, you may find this video of 20 strangers kissing for the first time extremely awkward. But there is something really beautiful about this fashion film, so it comes as no surprise that it has gone viral.
The film was made by Wren founder and creative director, Melissa Coker, and directed by her longtime friend Tatia Pilieva. It stars 20 kissers, including model Dree Hemingway's sister, Langley Fox, a model and illustrator.
'I strive to make an interesting film that exists on its own, rather than something that feels like a commercial,' says Coker. 'And it seems to be touching people: I’ve had random guys texting me, "I saw your video, it’s on the [homepage] of Reddit."'
Although criticisms have been made that the short is not as real as it asserts itself to to be, due to its attractive cast, Coker defends the film, saying, 'I emailed a bunch of people I know – though my personal life, through Wren. I tried to be diverse: some of them are musicians; but the guy with the tattoos, he actually works at Wren.'
Whatever the methodology behind First Kiss, it clearly worked. Every single kiss in this video is compelling, sweet, innocent… whichever adjective you wish to use to describe this memorable short.
