Today Harvey Weinstein, Tamara Mellon, Rachel Zoe, and of course head designer Marco Zanini, revealed their vision of Halston for the naughties. (Weinstein owns the company, Tamara and Rachel consult, while Zanini is ex Versace...got it!)

There was a hotly anticipated, A-list front row expected at The Gagosian Gallery in Manhattan, which had been specially fitted out with luxe leather seating for the show. However, there was not a Zoe-bot in sight, no Lindsay, no Mischa and certainly no Nicole. Naturally, Tamara Mellon's boyfriend Christian Slater was there to support her, but other than that, only Roasario Dawson turned out to represent young Hollywood. There was a surprise star guest however - none other than the original Mr Halston's old pal Liza Minelli. (Really!)

And the clothes? Most editors agreed, it was a luxe and surprisingly sophisticated collection, with just a hint of jersey, but not a whiff of Studio 54 disco, in a serene palette that ranged from putty to grey and bright blue.

With Halston now a permanent fixture on the New York schedule, we can only wait and see what's next for this phoenix from the ashes. First up though, the collection goes on sale from today (not in six months like everything else were seeing this week) at net-a-porter.com. Now that is what you call fast fashion.
