Miley Cyrus has taken her professional relationship with - and indeed, the world of high fashion - to a whole new level as the star of the designer's s/s 2014 ad campaign.

The moody shoot is the work of photographer David Sims and stylist Katie Grand, and counts as Miley's first high fashion campaign.

It hardly comes a surprise, though - the singer, who landed her first ELLE UK cover last year, has publicly credited Jacobs for her radical style overhaul (a subject on which he is somewhat of an expert), created a charity T-shirt for him, and was punk personified in a Marc Jacobs mesh dress at last year's Met Ball.

'We wanted this beach with girls kind of sulky and broody, and we thought it would be cool if it was Miley with what could be two friends, feeling distant and quite dark,' says Marc.

'We all just love her and her entire being, her energy, her talent, her intelligence, everything. There’s nothing I don’t like about her. She is just genuine and very natural.'

Someone who have a slightly differing view on that, however, is Jurgen Teller. Marc's constant campaign collaborator stepped away this season because, the designer admits to WWD, he 'just didn’t want to shoot her'.
