Jennifer Lawrence is one of ELLE’s favourite actresses, and a new poll by IMDB reveals that we’re not the only ones to have fallen for her (multiple) charms.

According to the study, based on page views by the film site’s 160 million users, Lawrence is the most popular star of 2013, thanks to hits such as The Hunger Games and her Oscar-winning turn in Silver Linings Playbook. She’s followed closely by Kick-Ass star Chloe Grace Moretz.

However, despite the evident popularity of Lawrence and her peers, only one woman made it into Forbes magazine’s annual rundown of Hollywood’s best paid actors – Angelina Jolie. Of the biggest single-film pay cheques earned by actors, not one went to a woman.

Unfortunately, these inequalities are indicative of gender differences throughout the film industry: fewer than one in 10 directors is a woman, while only 10% of films features a gender-balanced cast, despite the fact that around half of cinemagoers are female.

ELLE can’t help but be disappointed by this news. Regardless of your industry or pay packet (we’re sure Lawrence isn’t short of cash), it’s only fair that women earn the same as men and that the gender pay gap is closed. Join the campaign today at makethempay.co.uk.
