Chanel on film

Karl recreates Chanel’s 1954 revival

Is there anything Karl Lagerfeld can’t do? Not content with designing for Chanel and photographing for Fendi, the Kaiser has once again turned his talented hand to film.

Karl has written and directed The Return, which retraces Gabrielle Chanel’s steps as she reopens her couture house in 1954 and sees Karl recreate the historical décor of her Rue Cambon salon and atelier.

Starring Geraldine Chaplin in the role of Gabrielle Chanel, The Return also features Rupert Everett, Anna Mouglalis, Lady Amanda Harlech, Arielle Dombasle, Kati Nescher, Vincent Darré and Sam McKnight.

The Return follows 2012’s short film Once Upon A Time…, which debuted last May in Singapore and explored Chanel’s early days in Deauville, and will premiere in Dallas on 10 December, ahead of the Paris-Dalls 2013/14 Metiers d’Art show.

Vive la Karl indeed!
