Kate Bosworth: tech genius

Enter Style Thief

Kate Bosworth has never made any secret of her love of fashion (who could forget her foray into design with Topshop?) and now, she's turning it into a business of her own.

The actress has joined forces with founder Samantha Russ to unveil a new app, Style Thief, which allows its users to 'snap and steal' - snap a picture of an outfit or item they like, and provide them with similar buy-now options so they can steal its style.

'Everyone has fashion envy,' Bosworth explained in an interview with WWD.

'Everyone can relate to that feeling of looking at an editorial, for example — or a friend, or the runway, for that matter — wanting to steal something exactly as you’re seeing it, or something similar.'

The app, which is currently in the beta stage, does not sell its own line - 'yet', Bosworth clarfies - but aggregates options from some 300 retailers, including Forever 21, Swell.com, Madison, Saks Fifth Avenue and Moda Operandi.

Bosworth's official job title? Chief marketing officer. And, to ensure she had a top-notch product to work with, she has recruited her husband, director Michael Polish, to oversee the app's graphics as chief creative officer.
