Today's Google doodle honours a fashion legend: Edith Head.

Though you may not know the name, you'll remember the clothes. Head designed costumes for a generation of leading ladies, from Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face to a string of Hitchcock heroines.

Winning no less that eight Academy Awards for her work at Paramount and Universal Pictures, Head's 54-year career also saw her immortalised with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Head died in 1981, aged 83. Today marks the 116th anniversary of her birth - and Google's doodle marks the legacy she left behind.
