We may still be knee-deep in summer but the London Fashion Week news is coming thick and fast this week.

On Monday we got a first look at the schedule, with Marchesa making its first appearance and a presentation from Hannah Weiland’s fun fur label, Shrimps, joining the line-up of familiar names.

This morning at London’s Dover Street Arts Club Caroline Rush, CEO of the BFC, revealed the new master plan that aims to offer a serious boost to British contemporary ready-to-wear and accessory labels, those brands that sit between high-street and high-end; a new initiative in partnership with eBay called BFC Contemporary.

Five labels have been handpicked to receive an intensive programme of mentoring and support building and growing their businesses: Alexis Barrell, Georgia Hardinge, Paper London, Prism and Zoe Jordan. The first step in promoting their brands? Each is set to create a limited edition piece that will be sold in the new BFC Contemporary shop on ebay.co.uk. You’ll be able to get your hands on them in September.

And has revealed which three designers have earned a place in its show for the coming season. Helen Lawrence and Louise Alsop will both return for the second season, while Edward Marler will make his debut thanks to Central Saint Martins graduate collection, ‘The Trials of and Impossible Princess’.
