Can you imagine Dolce without Gabbana? It’s like strawberries without cream, Tom without Jerry, Lennon without McCartney. In short, it’s not a world we want any part of, thank you (OK, we still love Sir Paul solo, but just go with us here, all right?).

The designers have been a duo for nearly 30 years, and it's a relationship that has seen its share of highs (see: every catwalk, like, ever) and lows (such as facing tax evasion charges in court recently). But whatever the circumstances, they’ve stuck it out together. And now Stefano has paid tribute to their bond, by penning an open letter in the Italian paper Corriere della Sera ahead of their s/s 2015 show in .

The letter begins: ‘Dear Domenico, I have never written you a letter before. Perhaps because between us there has never been a need for many words. A glance has always been enough for us to understand each other.’ Cue collective ‘ahhhhhh’.

And, even though the pair’s romantic relationship ended years ago, Stefano made it clear that his love only changed form: ‘And even today, thanks to the emotions that bind us inextricably to each other, we continue to face together the joys and sorrows that life holds for us. You are my family…

Many years have passed since I first heard your voice on the other end of the phone; everything and yet nothing has changed. The love I felt then has only transformed, continuing to fill me with wonderful emotions.’

Sigh… Ain’t love grand?
