’s womenswear director, Andreas Melbostad, is today celebrating a promotion to the impressively-titled new role of overall creative director – a move that broadens his remit to include the men’s collection and the ‘overall image of the label’.

The Norwegian designer, who has been with the label since October 2012, said that he was ‘excited to have the opportunity to work on building cohesive collections’ for both men and women.

‘It is an opportunity to create a singular vision for Diesel Black Gold and a strong distinct voice,’ he added.

The step-up shouldn’t daunt him: Melbostad came to Diesel from Phi, where he was creative director, and prior to that, he worked at Donna Karan, Calvin Klein, Nina Ricci,Guy Laroche and Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche.
